Salena Hutcherson has grown up in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she began singing in the Union Branch Baptist Church at the age of three. Since then she has sung in church choirs, at state fairs, weddings and funerals, and in several different performance groups. Her favorite type of music is gospel.

She was graduated from Charlottesville High School (where she sang in the Chorus) in 1995, and from Piedmont Virginia Community College in 1999. She plans to continue her education in Biology, and also is currently working on a CD of R&B and Pop music.
