These broadsides (or bills) and programs advertising Uncle Tom's Cabin as both play and "Tom Show" are from a number of collections around the country, including the Harry Birdoff Collection at the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, Hartford; the Harvard Theatre Collection, The Houghton Library; The Billy Rose Theatre Collection, the New York Public Library; the Ransom Humanities Research Center, University of Texas; Special Collections, University of Virginia; and the John Hay Library, Brown University.
Included in the first section -- "ACT 1" -- are announcements for several "Anti-Tom" plays produced by pro-slavery sensibilies seeking to counteract the popular force of the story on stage. "ACT 2" deals with the period 1865-1927.
