| This 8-page promotional brouchure, advertising a 3-day run in
Columbus on the sisters' way to the Harris Theatre in New York City at the end of 1924, gives us the
best look at the set they used in Topsy & Eva. And it's interesting to
compare the stately plantation house on stage with the cartoonish drawings of
slaves in the field and by the cabin next to the program's photographs. It seems that a longer run at the Hartman Theatre was originally planned: on the back cover you can still read "Commencing Monday December 15. Matinees Wednesday and Saturday." In the event, the company only played Monday - Wednesday, December 15 - 17, 1924. |
