British Slide Set

This 24-image set of magic lantern slides was produced in England sometime during the 19th century. The "economy" version reproduced here was published in three separately-boxed "chapters" of 8 slides each by a firm named Primus as part of its "Junior Lecturer's Series" (Nos. 801, 802, 803).

Except for a pair of images of Topsy, this adaptation of Stowe's narrative focuses entirely on Tom's story (excluding Eliza crossing the ice, etc.). The images may be based on an (unidentified) British edition of Uncle Tom's Cabin: one striking aspect of them is the way they put the masts of an ocean-going sailing ship on board a Mississippi riverboat.
