  I wanted to amuse my little niece one afternoon, so decided to take her to a matinĂ©e to see "Uncle Tom's Cabin." She knew nothing about such plays, but as her mamma dressed her she said: "You will have a lovely time." Mildred seemed happy until the scene where Uncle Tom was being whipped. She clasped my hand tightly, big tears rolled down her cheeks, and as she looked up pitifully into my eyes she said: "Aunt Ju Ju, are we having a lovely time?"
