[From] SUMMARY.... The editor of the Jefferson (Mo.) Inquirer repudiates the favorable notice of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" which appeared in that journal last fall. He says he has "never read Uncle Tom's Cabin, and does not expect to." He adds: "The notice was written by R.J. Lackey, Esq., a Virginian, and a slaveholder, who occupied the chair editorial in our absence." Honor to whom honor. |
