  Uncle Tom's Cabin contrasted with Buckingham Hall, but Robert Criswell (D. Fanshaw), is one of the numerous replies to Mrs. Stowe's publication, giving a counter Souther view of the question. It is dedicated to the memory of Henry Clay, in a preface which preserves a characteristic anecdote of the great orator—the story of his use, in one of the Union speeches, of a fragment of the coffin of Washington, which the author of this volume presented to him.
