Lupton published at least two inexpensive (not to say cheap)
paperback editions of Stowe's novel, each illustrated with the same 12
full-page black-and-white drawings. The version that appeared in Lupton's
"Arm Chair Series" ("EACH NUMBER CONTAINS A COMPLETE NOVEL
BY A POPULAR AUTHOR") probably came first. Readers paid 25 cents for its
175 double-column, closely packed pages. The "Chimney Corner Series" edition
used the same format, and also sold for a quarter, but featured a newly-drawn
cover illustration, which you can see at the end of the set of icons
at left. Click on any of them to enlarge.
