Sharing Group Meeting
This is the time for you to share what you have learned today, and so you will now be meeting with a sharing group.  There will be one person from each research group (print response, visual images, and multi-media) in your sharing group.
Each person in the group should present their field notebook (answers to questions, printouts, and overall themes).  Then, discuss the following: What was the impact of the novel  Uncle Tom's Cabin  on the antebellum United States?  Once your group has come up with an answer that includes input from each person, write the group answer below.

Individual Response
Choose one of the following and answer on a separate sheet of paper.

1.  Continuing in your role as a researcher, you did such a good job collecting information in your field notebook that you have been asked to share your work with other researchers in your field!  You will present your work in a paper at a conference on the antebellum United States.  Summarize your research in a paper explaining the impact of the novel Uncle Tom's Cabin  on the antebellum United States.

2.  The year is 1853 and you have just read the novel Uncle Tom's Cabin .  Write a letter to someone explaining how the novel impacted you.  You can be a southerner, a northerner, a slave, or a freedman.  Your letter should reflect the key things that you have learned today about how the novel impacted the United States.

3.  You are working on an Uncle Tom's Cabin  Museum and you are the researcher in charge of an exhibit (choose either a print, visual, or multimedia exhibit).  What are the things that you will include in your exhibit and why?  What do you want the people who view your exhibit to learn?

4.  Another extension of your marvelous work as a researcher....You did such an excellent job collecting information in your field notebook that you have been granted funds for further study!  Spend some more time at Stephen Railton's Uncle Tom's Cabin and American Culture  website.  Choose an area that you want to spend more time exploring and write a paper for an Uncle Tom's Cabin conference explaining your findings.
